Smarter Balanced Exams April 16 - May 4

Biology End of Course Exam – Grade 10 (and make up Grade 11) PTHS
June 7, 8:15 a.m.

PSAT -  October 14, 8 am, PTHS auditorium.

    - For 11th graders (9th & 10th grades welcome)

    - Preregistration is required ($15 to PTSD #50, payable in the main PTHS  office)

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is given once a year. It is a shortened version of the SAT,  which is used by many college admissions offices.  The PSAT allows students to “practice” their test taking skills, and also serves as the qualifying test for National Merit Scholarships (11th grade only).  More information is available in the PTHS Counseling Office,

SAT - Reasoning Test  $54.50; 11th and 12th grade

    - PTHS on Oct. 7, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Jan. 28, March 10, May 5.

    - Advance preregistration with the College Board is required.                       

    - Materials are available in the Counseling Office or on www.collegeboard.com

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is administered by the College Board.  Scores are used by many post-secondary institutions, in conjunction with grades and course history, in making admissions decisions. The Reasoning Test includes three sections: critical reading, math and writing. Some post-secondary institutions may also require completion of Subject Tests.  Please see a counselor for more information.

ACT - $38,  Act Plus Writing - $54.50;  11th and 12th grade

    - Given Sept. 9, Oct. 28, Dec. 9, Feb. 10, April 14, June 4 in Bremerton and Sequim.

    - Advance preregistration is required.  Materials are available in the Counseling Office or on-line at www.actstudent.org

The American College Test (ACT) is used by many post-secondary institutions in conjunction with grades and course history in making admissions decisions. The ACT consists of subtests in English, mathematics, reading, science and writing (optional).

ASSET TEST  (also known as the on-line COMPASS test) – a math and English placement test required by all community colleges and technical institutes in Washington State.  This test is also used as an admissions test for the state Running Start Program. This test is given locally at the Peninsula College branch campus at Fort Worden.  Call directly for an appointment, 385-4605.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS (AP) administered at PTHS for the College Board.

Fee Waivers may be available for students who qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
