AP Statistics

Welcome to AP Statistics.  I am excited to have you in class this year.  I promise that you will be challenged, that you will be engaged, and that you will even have some fun.  The course content will prepare students for understanding and interpreting statistical information found in media as well as offer a strong foundation for students who will be pursuing careers in both the hard sciences and the social sciences.

Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes:
1. Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns
2. Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study
3. Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation
4. Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses

NOTE: This course is not aligned to CCSS; instead, it is aligned to the College Board standards for Advanced Placement Statistics.  Students who successfully complete the course and Advanced Placement Exam may receive credit, advanced placement or both for a one-semester introductory college statistics course.
