Classroom Wish List

CLASSROOM WISH LIST
Students excel in Spanish class when they pursue their own interests as individuals, using resources in Spanish language.  I strive to make my classroom a rich environment for each student to discover and expand their interests and passions in the context of the class.  You can help by donating resources, money, or time! Please contact me to arrange delivery or pickup, or drop off at the PTHS office.

Books! Students read in Spanish daily, on many topics, at all ability levels.

  • Donate used books in Spanish - children's books, young adult, literature, maps of Spanish-speaking countries, etc.
  • See my Amazon.com Wish List for books that I would like to add to the collection.

Music! I am a musician and avid listener, and I enjoy helping students learn more about music from these cultures, and make it their own.

  • Classical Guitar
  • electric bass
  • Small amplifier
  • Cajon
  • Bongo drums
  • Zampoñas
  • Latin percussion instruments: guiro, maracas, guacharaca, clave, etc. etc. etc.
  • Folding music stands
  • Small accordion (CUMBIA!)

Cooking! Students prepare many traditional foods of Latin America and Spain, usually from scratch, as they study and enjoy cultures.

  • Manual corn grinders (looks like a meat grinder but has two metal plates with ridges)
  • Paella pan(s) and burner

Celebrations! We celebrate Day of the Dead and other holidays as part of our investigation of culture.

  • Folk art associated with Day of the Dead
  • Mexican marigolds (flowers) It is very difficult to get these flowers on Nov. 1 in our climate; they often die. If you have some growing in a greenhouse or microclimate, we would love to have them the last week of October.
  • Plastic flowers
  • Brightly colored fabric
